The Caesar ‘Cello Ensemble is a learning ensemble for adults, based in London. It is an opportunity for adult learners of all levels, from near beginner upwards, to play together, learn from, and challenge each other in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
The ensemble provides an experience which is rarely available to adult learners. We rehearse weekly in preparation for concerts, building our experience of playing with others. The Ensemble
performs concerts several times a year giving valuable performance experience. Additionally, these concerts give an opportunity for solo performances to any members wanting to give it a go!
Our director and founder, Kwęsi Edman, has been teaching and playing freelance in London for several years and has a wealth of experience in teaching individuals and directing groups. Kwęsi arranges music specifically for the group so that we get to experience a wide ranging, challenging and fun repertoire suitable for all the musicians. This has ranged from Jigs and Reels to Bach’s Double Concerto for Two Violins (arranged for ‘cello) and Vivaldi’s Double Cello Concerto.
The Caesar Ensemble was established at the end of 2005 and has been going from strength to strength. Having begun with 6 members, we are now 16! We are run on a committee basis constituted of all attending musicians and so everyone can be involved if they want to be.
